SS Brazil

This photo was sent to us by Dr. Jon Gulbrandsen from Sunndalsora, Norway. He shared a childhood memory with us.

"I was a young lad of 7 or 8, and stayed at a hotel in Bergen (Norway) with my parents and younger brother in the summer of 1963 or 1964.  I had just gone to bed when I heard an almighty ship horn reverberate between the mountains.  It was as if someone had hit the keys of a colossal pipe organ for 5-6 seconds.  The next morning, we saw what it was.  It was the “SS Brasil” that had docked at the Skoltegrunn pier.  Even today, the memory sends shivers down my spine,"  The photo shows Jon and his brother in front of this magnificent ship.
